π€Understanding Returns
Returns on Amazon are primarily handled through two categories:
- FBA (Fulfillment By Amazon)
- FBM (Fulfillment By Merchant)
FBA Returns
With FBA, Amazon manages the returns for you. The process is quite straightforward, but it's important to be vigilant about refunds categorized as "not delivered." These might be instances of fraudulent returns. Regularly check your returns each month, particularly for these cases. If you find that an item was indeed delivered but still listed as not delivered, it's advisable to file a SAFE CLAIM, which will be discussed in more detail later.
FBM Returns
The FBM returns process is also fairly simple. You'll receive an email notification with the reason for a return when a customer initiates it. Pay special attention to returns marked "Not delivered," as these could indicate similar issues to those in FBA. For such cases, a SAFE CLAIM should be filed. In situations marked "Auto Authorized," your action isn't required immediately; simply wait for the item to be returned. Once you receive the returned item, you can then issue a full or partial refund, depending on the item's condition or if the wrong item was sent.
The term "Auto Authorized" simply means that Amazon has processed the return and issued a shipping label to the buyer without your direct involvement. The buyer is then required to return the product within a specified timeframe. If they fail to do so, they won't receive a refund, and the return process is voided. Navigating to the Return Panel
Accessing the return panel in Amazon Seller Central is a simple process. Follow these steps: FBA Returns
Start by clicking on the three lines located in the top left corner of your screen.
Select 'Orders' followed by 'Manage Returns.'
Here, choose 'FBA Returns' to review and audit all returns processed through Fulfillment By Amazon.
FBM Returns
For Fulfillment By Merchant returns, go back to the Seller Central home page.
On the home page, you'll find a section highlighting any pending FBM returns. This is where you will handle refunds after receiving the returned item.
Processing an FBM Return Refund
To issue a refund for an FBM return, the process involves a few steps:
Navigate to the refund page for FBM returns, which you can find on your dashboard's homepage.
Look for options like 'Edit Authorization' or 'Issue Refund' and select these as needed.
Once on this page, and after confirming the returned item has been received, you can initiate a full refund to the customerβs card.
In instances where the returned item is broken or damaged, you have the option to apply a restocking fee.
Remember, these steps ensure you can effectively manage and process returns, whether they are through FBA or FBM.
