When Done, Learn about Labeling:
Finally, How to Properly Pack Shipments:
Sending in your first FBA shipment can sound intimidating but in reality it is a very simple process.
You can list items on your phone or computer. I find that it is much easier on my phone because I can scan the barcode of each product with the Amazon seller app.
Simply scan the barcode of the product you would like to list and then click “sell.” After this, input a price. I like to put in a price that is significantly higher than the lowest/buy box price because I prefer to adjust my prices after my items arrive at Amazon’s warehouses and are available for sale. Make sure to select the fulfilled by Amazon option. Make one listing for each item you have. For example if you wanted to list the following inventory:
10 Batman Lego Sets
3 Coco melon dolls
5 BMW hot wheels
You would need to create 3 total FBA listings. One listing for each SKU/Product.
It will take 10-15 minutes for your listings to show up in your Amazon inventory. Make sure you have “FBA” and “inactive” selected on your inventory dashboard or else you will not be able to view the products you just added.
After your products show up in your inventory dashboard select all of them and click “send/replenish inventory” in the dropdown at the top of the page.
After this, select either individual or case packed products. You will most likely be sending in individual products if you are just starting out. Case packaged products are more geared towards bulk and wholesale shipments.
Next Amazon will ask you to choose whether or not you would like to label your own products. If you want them to apply labels for you, you will pay a small fee per item, usually around 55 cents.
If you prefer to label items yourself I would invest in a Jadens label printer. More information on these can be found in the Guide in the "Equipment" section. You can also purchase 30 ups labels which you can use with a standard printer.
Recommended 30 up labels:
Always play it safe when packing up your items. We’ve all seen shipping carriers throwing boxes around. Make sure there is not an excess of empty air space inside your boxes and add bubble wrap/packing paper when necessary. You may need to use multiple boxes.
If you are using multiple boxes you will need to note which items are inside which box. Amazon will ask you to input this information. If you do not want to record which items are in which boxes (for example if you had a shipment with 10 boxes and 40 different products) it may be easier to opt in for Amazon to manually process this when they receive the shipment. They charge a fee based on the number of units in your shipment if you choose not to specify which products you are shipping in which box.
After this, measure the weight and dimensions of each box and input them into the FBA workflow. Amazon gets great inbound shipping discounts so you will definitely be happy with how cheap your FBA shipping costs are.
For each box in your shipment, Amazon will provide you with one UPS label and one FBA label. You can print these out on a standard printer but if you are doing a lot of FBA I would recommend investing in a thermal printer such as a Jadens or Rollo printer.
Congratulations on creating your first FBA shipment! Now all you have to do is drop off your packages at your local UPS store. Make sure to get a receipt for your shipment. Bulk FBA shipments can hold a lot of valuable inventory so in the rare chance your shipment doesn’t make it to Amazon or gets lost (very rare). You will have your receipt as proof that you dropped off the shipment and you can file a claim with UPS.
It may take 1-2 weeks for your inventory to be fully checked into Amazon. In some cases it may take longer especially during Q4. Amazon often will need to transfer your items in between warehouses because of their complex fulfillment network.
I like to check the status of my inventory on the Amazon seller app. After your items are fully checked in, meaning they are available for sale, then you should adjust your prices to the price you would like to sell your item at. You may need to adjust pricing as time goes on.
Once an item sells, Amazon will ship the item directly to the customer for you without any action on your behalf.
After that you are completely done. FBA is an incredible opportunity that creates a massive amount of wealth for many people. It also frees up so much time for 3rd party sellers due to its automated nature. Happy selling!
